Who are we

-BBC worldwide is the main commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the British
broadcasting corporation (BBC).
-In 2016/17, BBC worldwide's headline sales were £1,059.9m and headline profits £157.3m
-BBC worldwide helps keep the licence fee as low as possible
-Returning £210.5m to the BBC in the last financial year (equivalent to 12.2% of BBC's total spend on television content in the year)
-Past 7 years the company has invested over £1bn in the UK's creative sector making it a major supporter for this increasingly important part of the 'UK plc'.
-Sells programmes and formats produces by over 250 British independent advisory group, which is working to help grow creative industries export and inward investments.

The strategy they use:
-In 2013 they refined their strategy to focus on three core areas: Premium content, Global brands and Digital transformation.
-Strengthened content relationships and pipeline, and enhanced content sales.
-Upgraded branded services, made choices about how and where they participate and they launched new digital services.
-As the market changes, they accelerate their strategies and underpinning their returns to the BBC.

Ethical trading:
-Work with suppliers and licensees to promote better practices within their consumer product supply chains, through their ethical programme.
-As a member of the ethical trading initiative they submit our ethical trading plan which sets out their strategy and approach for the next 3 years.
-Other actives have included staff engagement sessions on human trafficking from a representative of the gangmasters & labour abuse authority, and have hosted and participated in an industry round table discussion on improving supply chain conditions.

Environment:
-They work closely with sustainability teams in determining BBC worldwide contribution in helping the BBC group to achieve its environmental goals for the new charter.
-Helping to raise environmental awareness amongst their employees and improve the local environment around their global offices.

Global Markets

-Already in Asia, Central Europe, Middle East % Africa (CEMA) and Western Europe. they are collectively known within BBC worldwide as Global markets.
-Each region has teams running channels, sales, production and consumer product operations as well as identifying new business opportunities which can deliver new revenue streams and increased profits for BBC worldwide.
-Successes have included record-breaking audiences for Planet earth 2, the global success of war and peace, the 2016 cinematic release of sherlock.
-Global markets have fully owned production bases in the Nordics, India and France, a jointly-owned productions company in Germany with All3media known as Tower Productions, and a partnership in South Africa with Rapid Blue.
-Best known produce is strictly come dancing, top gear and antiques roadshow. This because they usually have celebrities on and because if they where to re-create this in another country than it is easy to re-create because they would just have to replace the hosts.
